Product Description
•••••
Tegu is a classic super high quality coffee form Kenya. With its fruited character of currant, pomegranate, jammy acidity and syrupy body it is quite a delight to the palette.
Tegu is a coffee washing station, and a wet mill. It is a Cooperative Society that combines many small farms coffee for processing. What really sets this coffee above others is the cherry picking system. At the mill there is excellent sorting by the picker. The over ripe and immature cherries are culled out. They have a system that grades the pickers. The "A" pickers are those who have been proven to deliver well-selected cherry and are selected to submit coffee on the "A" day when a higher price is paid. The "B" pickers are yet to be proven and have more immature and over matures in their bags, so submit their bags on a lower paying "B" Day. This is a great incentive for quality harvesting, rather that mindless, fast strip picking of the coffee tree. This program is one reason this Tegu is truly one of the best coffees of this year's global harvest.
